Mechan Controls plc, has announced that it is expanding its range of IP67 stainless steel non-contact safety switches for industrial machinery.
Engineers and equipment manufacturers can choose from an extensive array of standard magnetic or coded magnetic switches, all of which are now available in low-maintenance, 316 grade stainless steel. “Stainless steel offers many obvious advantages to machinery designers and engineers,” said Mechan Controls’ Technical Director, Mabruk Farrah. “Its resistance to chemicals and corrosion make it well suited for processes involving potentially aggressive materials or those which are subject to very demanding cleaning regimes. “The standard magnetic Magnasafe range and our high-security coded magnetic ISIS switches can all now be produced in stainless steel. This, together with their non-contact switching systems, which are tolerant to misalignment and the presence of moisture, enables customers to maintain effective and reliable safety controls, even in hygiene-critical areas that are regularly washed down.” With industry standard 22mm fixing centres and overall dimensions of 53 x 29 x 13.5mm, Mechan Controls’ stainless steel safety switches are sufficiently small and robust to be used in any machine guarding application. A wide range of different models is available to suit specific requirements and the units can be used in conjunction with sliding, hinged and lift-off guards. Both the Magnasafe and the ISIS safety switches are available pre-wired with 3 to 15 metre cables for total sealing or with an IP67 quick-disconnect option. Magnasafe switches can be specified either with one safety contact or with one safety plus one auxiliary contact. The ISIS range is designed for higher security applications and includes a wide choice of tamper-resistant coded switches, available in different voltages. Manufactured in accordance with ISO 9000-2000 for quality assurance, Mechan Controls’ stainless steel safety switches are part a comprehensive range of machine guarding safety systems, all of which comply with the relevant EU standards, including the Machinery Directive, EMC Directive and CE marking requirements.
